Working for MAC Cosmetics

Okay I haven't posted in a while (I've been a very busy girl)! I'm excited to say I got hired at MAC Cosmetics at the Charleston, SC counter. (Inside the Citadel Mall) Okay sooooo that's great but this post is about the process it took. It was indeed a looong process. First I googled the potential cosmetics jobs in South Carolina, I came across the contact of Ms. Homa. (No going to put it up here because, well you know) Okay so I sent my resume to that email and I didn't hear anything for maybe 5 months. I continue to send my resume maybe once a month during the 5 month period. I then received a email for Ms. Homa stating that they had a Job Fair but the closest would be in Charlotte North Carolina. She gave me the date and time told me to wear a full face and all black,  and I made my way there. (Two weeks later) At the Job Fair it was a open interview process anybody could attend. I got there at 3 pm and sat in the waiting room of the Marriott for maybe 10 minutes. Ms. Homa came into the room and my jaw dropped, she was sooooo beautiful. Her makeup was flawless and her attire was elegant. Now at this point I was a nervous wreck because seriously she intimidated me. I mean I was cute but she was flawless. So she lead me to the next room over, which was a conference room for our one on one. She asked for my resume and the interview started. Looking at my resume she asked how did I get into makeup. I told her my story and then she smiled. I didn't feel so intimidated after that because I felt she understood me and THEN she ask me to rate my makeup I had on. I rated myself a 5 just because first I did my makeup in the car, second I forgot my eyeliner at home, and third because I was looking at hers. She then stated she rate my makeup an 7 because I didn't have on eyeliner and told me I need to be more confident in myself. She then ask if I had any retail experience( I do), and she told me that plays a MAJOR part at Mac. She asked what was my favorite product from MAC, I told her the Foundation SPF 15 Studio Sculpt. She then said, "Sell it to me!" Well it came easy to me because I've worked in retail all my life. So I stated it's benefits and told her why she should have it. She was impressed and cut the interview off instantly by saying, "I've heard enough I'm scheduling you for your second interview." I was excited the whole process took maybe 10 minutes. Well I didn't hear anything for another month!! So I sent a email to her asking if I still qualify for the second interview. I received a email immediately from her saying yes and was given a date for the next interview along with directions.(Charlotte NC) I was told I had to bring a model and that I would be applying a makeup application at the interview, and that I only had 30 minutes. I decided I would take my sister.  I was schedule for 10 am, it just so happen that a accident was on the interstate and I was sitting in traffic for 20 minutes Ughhhhhh. So anyway I get to the Mall 5 minutes late running like someone was chasing me. Could NOT find where I was suppose to be because it's like 5 Mac Counters in that mall. Finally I found where I was suppose to be 15 MINUTES late. There were three other girls there in the room and they were already started. David who was the manager over our interview came over to me and told me to do a look on my model as if she were going to an interview at a bank. So he wanted a very pretty, clean, elegant face. I rushed over to the table where all the products were grabbed all of the products I needed for face, lips, eyes, and brows. I'm thinking I only had 10 minutes left so I'm speed racing on my sisters face. I finished in 7 minutes flat.(Had my timer on my phone on) I look around and the other girls are still working. So I'm sweating bullets and out of breathe, David comes over looking at his watch and says "You're finished?" I told him yes and he looked at my model with his head tilted and said he didn't like the whitest color I used on her highlight for her eyes. He said you have time still, fix it. So I rushed back to the table found a brown color and applied it on top of the white and blended.  I looked around and some girls were STILL working so he came over again and said I LOVE IT! He then give me some tips on the eyes and told me I could clean up.(By then the other girls were cleaning up and leaving) I cleaned my station and brushes and walked over to give him my resume. He asked me which location I wanted to work at, I told him I was from South Carolina and apologize for being late but I was stuck in traffic. He then ask me some interview questions like "Why you want to work for Mac?" I was very honest with him and told him I didn't want to be a makeup counter artist for long. I told him I have goals and what to start with the best so that I would never except anything less! He then told me some positions were opening up in Charleston, he took my picture with his IpadHoma and asked if I passed the makeup interview she told me yes and that she forward my paperwork over to somebody and they should have contacted me by now, she told me she would call me back! By this time I was so tired of everything so I called Mac here in South Carolina and ask if they were hiring. I told Ms. Natalie I did both interviews and she told me to come in to talk to her. She called Ms. Homa and long story short I was hired!!! Now I had to wait on my employee number for 2 weeks but hey whatever.
